Domestic leagues: Easy for Akademik, dramatic for Rilski
BC Akademik Bultex 99 recorded an easy win in Bulgarian league. The Plovdiv team hosted the young squad of Academic Sofia and managed to take an 85-65 victory. The home side needed one good second quarter to increased their lead to 21 points. That was enough for them as after the break they controlled the difference and closed out the match with success.
Aleksandar Gruev was the top scorer for the winners with 17 points as Adriyan Sekulov added 14.
Elsewhere Rilski Sportist had a much harder time before downing Beroe 79-77 at home. It was a tight game from start to finish as both sides fought really hard. In the final second the visitors closed the gap to just 1 and after Bozov scored just one free throw it became 2. Then Beroe had the chance to win but the visitors missed two triples.
Evan Ravenel was the top performer for the winners with 18 points and 6 rebounds while Martin Marinov added 11 points.
After that round Akademik and Rilski are tied for second place in the standings with 15-6 record but also with a game more than Balkan.
