Domestic leagues: Levski and Rilski through to the semifinal, Akademik in to a decisive third game
BC Levski Lukoil had a hard time but eventually qualified for the semifinals of Bulgarian league. The Blues defeated Cherno more 81-79 away to win the quarterfinal series 2-0.
Levski had the early lead and for most of the time it was in double digits. In the final period however the hosts made a 12-1 run and soon they were down by just a point. They tried hard to take the lead but the visitors managed to keep it and win.
Nikolay Stoyanov was the top scorer for Levski with 19 points as Keith Clanton had 15.
Rilski Sportist is also through to the last four after beating Beroe 80-70 away and taking the series 2-0. The Samokov side made a great second quarter 16-2 run to go up by 15 at the break. Beroe did closed the gap to 5 after the third quarter but the visitors never gave them any real hope of turning things around.
Zlatin Georgiev finished with 22 points and rebounds as Derek Wright scored 15 points.
In the semifinals Levski Lukoil will play against Rilski Sportist as the first game is in Sofia on May 7th.
BC Akademik Bultex 99 will have to play one more game in order to reach the top four. The Plovdiv side played a bad game and lost to Yambol 79-97 as the series is now tied at 1 wins apiece. The third and decisive game will be played on Wednesday.
The hosts finished the first quarter on a 7-0 run to take the lead and never look back after. Soon they managed to take a double digit advantage and controlled the game until the end.
Martin Durchev had 18 points and 6 assists as Vasil Bachev added 11 points.
