Domestic leagues: Akademik Bultex 99 lost a heartbreaker at the start

The new season in Bulgaria started with a dramatic defeat for BC Akademik Bultex 99. In the first round the team hosted Balkan and lost 85-86 despite having a 22-point advantage at the break.

Akademik had an amazing start to the match as everything was going their way in the first half. That is how the difference at the break was 22 points but then everything changed. Balkan cut the deficit to 13 points in the third quarter and in the middle of the fourth it already came down to 2. The visitors even took the lead with 1.50 to play and then managed to hold on for the comeback win.

Daishon Knight finished with 30 points for Akademik as Vasil Bachev added 25.
