High-scoring Beroe returns with a convincing win
BC Beroe returned to the Balkan League with a convincing win. The Stara Zagora team used a strong start to the second half to pull away and defeat KB Bashkimi 107-77 away in the first game of the new season in the competition. The game was really close in the first 17 minutes but the visitors finished strong the first half, then started great the second and practically decided the outcome. The young team of the hosts also deserves praise for the way it played and fought as they will be looking to get better and better with each game. Next week Bashkimi will visit Teuta in Albania while Beroe will host Kozuv.
Beroe came in better and took an early 8-2 lead. Steadily Bashkimi managed to find its rhythm and not only got closer but also took the lead. However the visitors were up by 3 after one quarter and with a 12-2 start to the second took a 13-point advantage. The home side responded perfectly with 12-0 of its own to close the gap to a single point. Then both teams exchanged baskets but Beroe managed to finish the half on an 11-0 run to have a good 12-point advantage after 20 minutes of play. The game was already decided after just few minutes of the third quarter were played. The visitors started it with a great 15-0 run, took their lead to 27 points and controlled the things on the court after that.
Three players of Beroe finished with 21 points each - Conner Frankamp, Dallin Bachynski and James White as Adonis Filer had 12 points.
Bashkimi was led by Jordan Capps with 19 points as Michael Martin added 17.
