Beroe erupts for 133 points and 7 wins in a row
BC Beroe recorded its 7th win in a row in a convincing way. The Stara Zagora team remains unbeated in the Balkan League after having no trouble in beating KB Bashkimi 133-80 at home. Beroe managed to take a good advantage in the first few minutes but the damage was done in a monster second quarter when the team played great and decided the outcome.
After this game The Greens now have 7-0 record and are 99% certain of qualifying for the Final Four. As for Bashkimi the team is 1-8 after this week and has no chances of reaching the Top 4. On February 5th the Kosovo team will host KK Kozuv while Beroe will play against Academic Bultex 99 at home in the Bulgarian derby.
The Greens wanted to make a statement early and did just that by starting 16-4 in just 250 seconds. Bashkimi recovered until the end of the first quarter to close the gap to 8 points but everything for them was over in the second. Beroe went on an offensive clinic and scored 38 points which thanks to the good defense took the difference to 30 at the break. In the second half the hosts continued to dominate and increased the advantage for a really big win.
The hosts had a great shooting nighit making 16 from 32 three-point attempts and being 36 of 45 for 2 points for the incredible 80%.
All nine players that Beroe used were able to score and the youngster Mihail Kombakov made his debut in the Balkan League and was even able to score his first basket. James White finished with 25 points and 9 rebounds for the win as Aleksandar Yanev added 22 points.
Bashkimi was led by Jordan Capps who scored 37 points while Steven Haney finished with 28.
