Domestic cups: Beroe is through to the final, Academic Bultex 99 came up just short
BC Beroe will play in the Final of the Cup fo Bulgaria for second time in its history. After winning in 2017 The Greens will try again as they ousted Academic Sofia in the semifinals despite losing the second game 82-89 away. Beroe however had won the first by 17 points and didn′t have any trouble to qualify.
An 11-0 run to end the first half gave Beroe an 8-point lead. In the second the difference reached double digit but the hosts hit back and took the lead early in the fourth quarter. It reached 9 points but they couldn′t do nothing more as Beroe controlled the margin until the final buzzer.
Nikolay Stoyanov was the top scorer for the visitors with 21 points as Conner Frankamp had 15.
In the other semifinal Academic Bultex 99 was close to an upset after beating Levski Lukoil 87-77 at home. The difference from the first game was 18 points and the hosts took a 15-point lead with two and a half minutes to play. Until the end however they missed some open shots and still won the game but no by how much they needed to.
Mladen Vitkovic had 19 points and 7 rebounds for the winners as Troy Franklin had 17 points.
Beroe and Levski Lukoil will meet in the big Final which will be played on March 2.
