Academic Bultex 99 leads from start to finish for 4 in a row
BC Academic Bultex 99 recorded its fourth straight win in the Balkan League. The Plovdiv team hosted KB Vllaznia and led from start to finish cruising to a 91-74 victory. The home side never left any doubt which the better team was and they remained the only unbeaten one in the competition. Before the match started both teams raised a special banner in support of all the people in Albania who suffered from the earthquake more than a week ago. Academic′s next game is at home against Peja on December 18th while next week Vllaznia will be visiting Ibar.
The hosts scored the first seven points of the game and then took a 16-3 lead. They kept the double digit advantage until the end of the first quarter but in the second Vllaznia managed to close it to single digits. It didn′t last long however as Academic led by 10 points at the break but when the home team finished the third quarter with 8 straight points, it took the difference to 20 and practically decided the outcome.
The hosts were hot from outside making 15 triples from 39 attempts. Their top performer was Shakir Smith who finished with 19 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. Obrad Tomic and Vasil Bachev were the second best scorers with 14 points each.
Nicholas Evans led Vllaznia with 20 points while Colin Voss had 14 and 9 rebounds.
