Hapoel Holon advances to the final after a great battle
27-04-2021 | 22:06Hapoel Holon will play against Akademik Plovdiv in the final of Delasport Balkan League. The hosts of the Final 4 defeated Hapoel Gilboa Galil 81-77 after a great battle in the second semifinal to reach the game for the trophy in its first season in the competition. In a great atmosphere in Toto Arena in Holon both teams provided a great contest, great battle which came down to the wire. In the final minutes two triples by the home side and some missed free throws by the visitors proved to be the difference.
It was a close start as the hosts led but not by much. That was the case until the end of the first quarter when thanks to a 7-2 run they went up by 9 points. In the second the difference went up even more as it reached 13 points just before the middle of it. Galil managed to respond and thanks to a good defense closed the gap to just 4. Still Holon finished better the first half and led by 9 at the end of it.
In the third quarter Gilboa finally showed its good defense as the team held the hosts to just 8 points. They opened it by scoring the first 8 points and soon were close to their opponents. After more than three minutes without a basket Holon scored two free throws to go up by 4 but with an 11-3 finish to the quarter, it was Hapoel Gilboa Galil with a 4-point advantage after 30 minutes.
The roles reversed in the final quarter as Holon turned it up again and thanks to a Miles triple restored their lead early. In the next minutes the hosts were holding on but Galil was still close. The experienced Guy
The team of Hapoel Gilboa Galil can be really disappointed with its free throw shooting. The team had a total of 28 attempts and missed 11 of them which reflected on the final outcome. The hosts in the meantime were 15 of 17 and with its great percentage compensated the fact that they shot 11 times less.
Isaiah Miles was the top scorer for the winners with 18 points while also adding 9 rebounds. Chris Johnson also did well adding 17 points as CJ Harris had
