KK Kumanovo 2009 has strengthened its roster with an interesting name. The North Macedonian side has made a "transfer bomb" by adding former LA Lakers, Cleveland and Barcelona player Jonathan Holmes. The experience 203 cm tall American has been a part of the pre-season teams in LA Lakers and Cleveland Cavaliers where he used to play and practice with the late Kobe Bryant and LeBron James respectively. He used to try also with Boston Celtic and Chicago Bulls but wasn't able to make an NBA debut.
The biggest moment of Holmes' career came without doubt early in 2016/2017 season when he signed for Spanish giants Barcelona. With the team he played 3 games in the Spanish League and 7 in Euroleague before moving to Canton Charge in the NBA D-League.
In his career Holmes has also played for Hapoel Tel Aviv in Israel and last for Real Canoe in Spain.
One other notable moment for Holmes came in 2017 when he was selected to be a part of the USA National team which competed at and won the FIBA AmeriCup. He took part in the qualifications for FIBA World Cup for 2019 and played in four games.
It's without a doubt a huge signing for Kumanovo which underlines the big ambitions the team has for the upcoming season both in the local league and in Delasport BIBL.
"We are really happy to have signed Jonathan Holmes after long negotiations. With his rich experience in the NBA and in Barcelona in Europe, he will be a big help for our team. His signing will be really important for the basketball in our country and the city of Kumanovo" said after the signing was made official the chairman of the eam Darko Petkovski.
