Balkan defeats Akademik Plovdiv in a friendly BIBL meeting

Two of the Bulgarian representatives in Delasport Balkan League met in a friendly game in Botevgrad. Balkan hosted Akademik Plovdiv and thanks to a better second half won 90-71.

In the first two quarters the teams were close to each other and at the break the visitors led by 1. At the start of the second half, the home side made a 9-0 run and managed to take a good advantage. Akademik managed to cut the deficit to 4 but an 11-0 run to start the last quarter, decided the outcome of the game in favor of Balkan.

Derrick Marks was the top scorer for the winners with 19 points as Travin Thibodeux had a double-double with 17 and 14 rebounds as Kris Minkov scored 16 points.

Akademik was led by captain Vasil Bachev with 20 points. The new signing Nemanja Besovic had 14 in his first game as Tomislav Minkov added 12.
