The champion of Bulgaria beats Hapoel Galil Elion

The champion of Bulgaria - BC Levski 2014 recorded its most impressive win of the season so far. The Blues from Sofia hosted Hapoel Nufar Energy Galil Elion and stopped the Israeli's side winning run by beating them 84-76. It was thanks to a great performance in the first half, especially in the second quarter, which led the team to the win. In the final ten the visitors tried to mount a comeback but it was too late and eventually they lost for the first time in their 7th game. The home side was missing three of its best players in Ivica Radic, Chavdar Kostov and Hristo Zahariev but the other stepped up for an amazing win. Levski's next game will be on January 10th against Maccabi Next Urban Haifa while Hapoel will host Levski on January 18th in their next match.As the teams exchanged baskets early, it was Levski to go on the first big run of the game. The hosts thanks to an aggressive style managed to capitalize on Hapoel's missed shots and after a 14-2 run took a double-digit lead. The visitors though finished the first quarter with 7 points in a row to cut the deficit to just 4. An 8-2 start to the second propelled Levski to another double-digit advantage. Levski's superb performance continued after that as well as the team stayed aggressive and thanks to its hot shooting increased the lead to 17 at the break. For the first 20 minutes of the game the hosts had 7 triples compared to just 1 for Hapoel which made the difference at the time. in the third quarter the teams exchanged baskets and the difference remained the same. After finishing it on a 7-2 run the hosts went up by 22 and then in the final ten minutes were able to hold on the comeback attempt by Hapoel.
The hosts hit a total of 13 triples from 31 attempts which compared just 5 of 20 for the visitors was too much to overcome.
Ventsislav Petkov had a huge game for the winners scoring 28 points, including 7 triples. Mario Little also did well with 19 points as Elijah Mitrou-Long had 14, 8 rebounds and 5 assists.
The visitors were led by Nimrod Levi who finished with 22 points as Bryce Washington added 13.
