Beroe crushed Teodo for an important win
BC Beroe recorded a very important win in group C of SIGAL-UNIQA Balkan League. The team from Stara Zagora crushed KK Teodo 85-62 at home to take its third win in the group. With it both teams are now tied in the standings but the important thing is that Beroe have the tiebreaker advantage as they lost by 11 in Tivat. Now both teams will turn their focus to the next round as later tonight they′ll know exactly what they are going to need. Beroe will visit Bashkimi in Prizren while Teodo will visit Mornar.
Beroe had better start to the game and took a 9-3 lead. Slowly Teodo entered into rhythm but still both teams didn′t score a lot in the first quarter. The visitors however finished it on an 11-2 run to lead by 1. In the second period both teams continued to be close with no one being able to pull away. The visitors managed to take a 3-point lead with no long to go in the half. Beroe though responded well and finished it with 7-0 run, including a buzzer beating three-pointer by Auston Barnes.
Beroe had a huge start to the second half as the team erupted for 18-2 run. The hosts capitalized on their good defense which forced some Teodo turnovers. That led to successful fast breaks and after Beroe also hit some triples the difference went to 20 points in only five minutes. The hosts used that momentum and despite not being able to build an even bigger advantage, they managed to keep it until the end of the quarter. Then in the fourth they continued to do so and the advantage reached 23 points. Teodo tried to do something and come closer but when they cut the deficit to 18 Tihomir Zhelev scored his fourth triple. That proved to be the last decisive moment that killed all hopes of the visitors.
The difference between the teams was in the three-point shooting. Beroe hit 13 from 26 attempts while Teodo was only 5 of 27.
Top performer for Beroe was Auston Barnes who finished with 23 points, 6 rebounds, 5 steals and 4 assists. Tihomir Zhelev added 20 points while Ashton Moore had 14, 5 rebounds and 4 assists.
Srdjan Subotic had 11 points and 7 rebounds for the visitors as Radomir Marojevic had 10 points.
