Important victory for Kozuv
KK Kozuv registered a very important victory over KK Kumanovo 2009, 89-71, in the last SIGAL-UNIQA Balkan League game for the week. The Macedonian team led from start to finish and now will have to win its Round 10 game against the reigning BIBL champion KB Sigal Prishtina on 24 January in order to advance to Top 8 of the competition.
KK Kozuv pulled away by a high-flying first quarter and gained a comfortable lead for 22-13 after 10 minutes on the court. Meanwhile, the players of KK Kumanovo 2009 seemed like they could not find themselves without Aleksandar Kostoski. The hosts kept everything in control until halftime, as well, when they already had a double-digit lead at 40-30.
Kozuv continued fighting until the very end, although already they went ahead by 19 points. As a result, the team of coach Igor Mihajlovski won for a fifth time, handing Kumanovo its third loss.
Milivoje Mijovic scored 22 points for the winners, and also grabbed eight rebounds. Kenyon McNeal had 21 points. Bojan Krstevski added 16, and Larry Hall finished by 13 points and four boards.
Danilo Mijatovic answered with 20 points in defeat. Dimitar Karadjovski scored 17, and Radoslav Pekovic collected 11 points and six rebounds.
